5th Champions League spot?
Now that they've changed the system so that Europa League winner qualifies for Champions League, what happens if that team already gets a spot from the domestic league?

Basically what I'm asking if the very unlikely scenario of Manchester United winning the UEL and finishing top 4, would that allow the 5th place finisher to qualify for Champions League?

Or even the most unlikely case of Manchester City winning the UCL and finishing top4? Although not sure if CL winner gets a spot automatically for next season.

Yes there is a way that Spurs can miss out of they finish 4th.

If the Champs League winners finish outside of the top 4, they get a place. If the Europa League winners finish outside the top 4 they get a place.

However, only a maximum of 5 teams from any country can qualify for Champs League, so if BOTH Champs and Europa League winners finish outside top 4, then 4th place in Premier league only gets a Europa place.

That's right. Unfortunately that scenario has spurs qualifying for the champions league so was trying to avoid that.

Seriously speaking, this wasn't really about a certain team but just wanted to know if there's a chance we would finish 5th and qualify for the champions league.

You can have 5 teams like the Spanish did this year after sevilla won it.

Re: 5th Champions League spot?
Why is it relevant to Man U?
Surely it is better to look at the scenario of Spurs winning it and already having finished in the top 4.

So is there a way spurs can still miss out on CL if they finish 4th?

Chelsea would enter it if they won it (I think)

• The maximum number of clubs from one association that can qualify for the UEFA Champions League is increased to five.

To clarify, I mean max of 4 from league placings. If Manu win the Europa league and finish outside the top 4 assume we will then have 5 teams in the CL.
